The Czech Association of Thoroughbred Breeders and Racehorse Owners has new leaders

The AGM of the Czech Association of Thoroughbred Breeders and Racehorse Owners (ČSCHPMDK), held at Napajedla on March 9th, led to fundamental changes in the leadership of the association. ČSCHPMDK, originally not an elected body, finally voted out its original leadership. The new leadership now comprises Margit Balaštíková, Miroslav Ševčík, Martin Bláha, Jiří Charvát,  Stanislav Chudáček,  Zdeněk Jandejsek,  Karin Luftmannová,  Luděk Mikulecký,  Jiří Odcházel,  Rajmund Pavla, Marek Šimák and Jiří Trávníček. Jiří Trávníček is the newly appointed president, and will be on the Council of the Czech Jockey Club, together with Jiří Charvát, Zdeňek Jandejsek, Rajmund Pavla and Martin Bláha.

(translated from the Czech langugae pages of Dostihoy svet)

There have long been complaints by racehorse owners that ČSCHPMDK has been ineffective and has provided support for small breeders rather than big owners. And that its seats on the Council of the Jockey Club have been packed with the president’s place men. An Open Letter was written by the group that has now made this coup, and I translated it in Paddock Revue, the forerunner of Dostihovy Svet. http://www.paddock-revue.cz/en/node/1258

I commented on the Open Letter in the September 2012 newsletter, also in Paddock Revue. http://www.paddock-revue.cz/en/node/12593

The new committee and the new members of the Council of the Jockey Club consist mainly of signatories of the Open Letter. These are top owners and leading personalities in Czech racing, and the supervision of Czech horseracing will be much strengthened if they get actively involved in their new positions.
