Talar wins the Czech Two Thousand Guineas

The 92nd renewal of the Czech Two Thousand Guineas was run at Prague Velka Chucle on May 12th for prize money of CzK 1 000 000, almost € 40 000, thanks to generous sponsorship by Rabbit CZ Holding. After considerable rain in the last week and a heavy rainfall shortly before the race, the going was soft. The race was won well by the outsider Talar (by Whipper out of a Danehill mare) from other outsiders, Mister Westminster and White Motiv. The winner is owned by GM Electronic,  trained by Vaclav Luka jnr, and ridden by Jiri Chaloupka. Talar was bred in the UK, as were the 2nd, 3rd and 4th finishers. Talar’s preparation had included two undistinguished runs in France, in February and in April. Although Vaclav Luka has been our champion trainer on the flat for the last three seasons, this was his first classic winner in the Czech Republic.
