59 entries for the Velka Pardubicka, including 18 from abroad

Entries for the Velka Pardubicka closed on May 16th. Every Czech chaser that might be able to run respectably over 6 900 metres, crosscountry, is entered. 2012 winner, Orphee des Blins is there, and so is 2009, 2010 and 2011 winner, Tiumen. As expected, Age of Jape is entered. This 7-y-o won the Czech triple crown on the flat in 2009, then took well to hurdles, but missed the 2012 season through injury. On May 8th this year, he won his first-ever cross-country at Pardubice. Josef Vana has “only” seven entries this year, headed by triple VP winner 12-y-o Tiumen. He has also entered two horses with high-quality form from Italy: Budapest and Ilion. All three of Cestmir Olehla’s entries have good credentials: Ronino, Klaus and Cherwick.

The main interest at this stage is in the 18 entries from abroad. There will be much satisfaction that the 4th and 6th finishers in the 2012 VP are entered: Maljimar and Uncle Junior. Most of the foreign trainers with horses entered are well-established friends of Pardubice, and it is hoped they will again bring their horses over this year.

From Ireland, Enda Bolger has entered five, Freney’s Well and Mount Sion, both owned by J. P. McManus, and also Zest for Life, Keep on Track, and Arabella Boy. Will Mullins, Uncle Junior and The Midnight Club.  D.P. Murphy has entered Another Jewel and Anthony Martin has entered Saddlers Storm

From the UK, Nick Williams - Maljimar and Shalimar Fromentro; Ferdy Murphy - Lord Villez, and  Kim Bailey Wedger Pardy.

French trainer Patrice Quinton has entered Fille de Juilley and Tropic de Brion

Le Jackpot, Zagroskudla and Bodyguard are trained in Slovakia.

The race will be run on Sunday, October 13th.
