Racing returns to Prague Velka Chuchle on Sunday, September 1st

Racing returns to Prague Velka Chuchle on Sunday, after a three-month break due to the major flooding that inundated the course at the beginning of June. Big efforts have been in the summer months to make the course fit for racing in September and October, when there will be meetings every Sunday afternoon except October 13th, which is Velka Pardubicka day.

The main event on September 1st will be the Czech St Leger, the last of the Czech classics for 2013. The field of ten includes the Czech Derby winner, Mr Aviation, and the Czech Oaks winner, Saltanaat. The first race is at 2 pm.

There will be four meetings this weekend. On Saturday, the first race at Most racecourse is at 1.30 pm. Unfortunately, the third of the three classical steeplechase races in the Josef Vana Cup has had to be cancelled, as the sponsors were not able to put up the promised prizemoney.

There is also a two-day meeting at Netolice. On Saturday, there will be 5 flat races, first race at 2.30 and the last race at 5 pm, and on Sunday, there will be four steeplechases, first race at 2 pm and the last at 5 pm. On both days, the races will form part of a festive weekend at this picturesque racecourse in south Bohemia.
