Tiumen has a setback

According to an interview with Josef Vana in Dostihovy svet, Czech language pages, Vana himself is OK after his fall at Pardubice on Saturday. However, Tiumen, with which Vana won the Velka Pardubicka in 2009, 2010 and 2011, has had a setback. At the Hangar Fence, another horse struck into him from behind. Tiumen lost a shoe, and also suffered an injury to a  tendon on one of his back legs. The horse was then not able to take the next fence properly, and catapulted Vana out of the saddle. It is not clear how long it will take Tiumen to heal. Vana says that Tiumen is pretty tough, and recovered from a worse injury before his 2009 victory.

If Tiumen were to be unable to run on October 13th, Vana might be left with a single runner, Budapest, as his other five entries for the race have not really shaped up as VP contenders in recent months.
