Why has noone heard of Freddie Mitchell, who is to ride Cantridara in the Velka Pardubicka on Sunday?

The rumour that he was an Australian amateur ridden seems to be untrue. He is in fact a young British amateur rider who has not fulfilled the qualification conditions to ride in the race, but for some reason he has been granted a special dispensation. 

Czech jockeys Josef Vana and Josef Bartos are reported in the Czech language pages of Dostihovy Svet to be unhappy with this decision, as there are some Czech riders who have fulfilled the conditions who might have had this ride. Also there is some concern that an inexperienced rider who does not know the course could be a hazard for other horses and riders. 

Even with a proper jockey on his back, Cantridara would have no chance in the race.
