No agreement yet on races for this year

The meeting on March 10th between organisers of Czech race meetings and the presidium of the Jockey Club in Prague brought no positive shift, and there is still no agreement on the payment of owners' prizes. This means that that it remains impossible to publish the race conditions even for the first planned meetings at Prague Velka Chuchle [the first meeting should be on Sunday, April 6th]. The start to the season is still not yet definitively clarified. Both sides believe that agreement will be reached in the framework of discussions of the Council of the Jockey Club of the Czech Republic, which is to meet on March 20th. This is the last possible deadline for reaching an agreement, if the season is to begin as planned.

The way in which the relatively small amount of money provided by the Ministry of Agriculture in support of Czech racehorse breeding (as I understand it) is distributed and paid out haslong been a  source of discussion and disagreement (see monthly newsletters). The replacement of Václav Luka by Aleša Jakub as president of the Jockey Club of the Czech Republic, along with other changes of representatives, has opened this issue up again. It is a thorny matter, but it is hard to see it preventing the April race meetings going ahead. Of course, it is already high time for the race conditions for the first half of the season to be published.
