Racing at Prague Velka Chuchle on April 6th

The Czech horseracing season begins on Sunday, April 6th, first race at 2 p.m. There will be eight flat races on the card, and the main race of the day is the Category I Gomba Handicap, over 1200 metres. There are seven runners in the Gomba - a six-furlong handicap with a full curve on the opening day of the season is always a lottery.

Please note that there is one-way traffic until May 7th in Radotinska Street, which runs between the railway line and the racecourse. The one-way traffic is in the direction from the Velka Chuchle level crossing to Radotin (It will affect drivers from the city centre only on their way home). The only suitable place to park a car on racedays is in the official car park, opposite the railway station on Radotinska Street.

The best way to get to Prague Velka Chuchle is by rail. Trains leave Hlavni Nadrazi (Main Station) at 20 and 50 minutes past each hour, and stop at Smichovske Nadrazi (Smichov Station) at 28 and 58 minutes past each hour. They arrive at Prague Velka Chuchle station at 03 and 33 minutes past each hour. It is two minutes on foot from the station to the main entrance of the racecourse.

On the way back into town, trains leave at 25 and 55 minutes past the hour, and arrive at Smichovske Nadrazi after 5 minutes and at Hlavni Nadrazi after 14 minutes. Your Prague city transport pass or a 32-crown ticket is valid from your local tram/metro/bus stop in Prague to the racecourse. Please note that public transport tickets for the return journey are not on sale at Velka Chuchle railway station, so if necessary buy an extra ticket. In addition, the Prague public transport ticket-by-telephone service is not available on traines. Hlavni Nadrazi is on the red metro line, and Smichovske Nadrazi is on the yellow line.

Race meetings are held at Velka Chuchle every Sunday afternoon from the beginning of April until the end of June, and from the end of August until the end of October. The standard time for the first race is 2 p.m., and there are normally 8 races. The first race is at 1 p.m. in October.
