Love Me fails a drugs test

The Bulletin of Czech Horseracing (Věstník Českého Turfu) reported on October 27th that the drug test taken on Love Me, after the 5-y-o gelding finished 6th in the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Stakes at Prague Velká Chuchle on September 4th, was found to be positive. On October 20th, trainer Petr Juranek asked for the B sample to be tested, and it has now been reported that this sample was also found to contain norketamine, a banned substance. The case has now been handed over to the Disciplinary Commission of the Jockey Club of the Czech Republic.

Norketamine is widely available, and is used among others as a painkiller and for clearing the airways.

Love Me, owned by Rabbit TrhovýŠtěpánov, won the Slovak Derby in 2014.
