Czech Jockey Club presidium re-elected

 

On June 8th, 2018, the Council of the Jockey Club of the Czech Republic re-elected the president and the vice-president of the Jockey Club, and the three other members of the presidium will continue to represent major stakeholders. The new period in office of the president and the vice-president will be four years (until now, they had been elected for a period of two years).

Jiří Charvát (photo), has been president of the JCCR since 2014, and was re-elected by a two-thirds majority. The presidium consists of the president, the vice-president, and representatives of the Czech Association of Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners (Martin Bláha), the racecourses (Ivan Janatka), and the Czech Steeplechase Association (Oliva Horová).

 

Jiří Charvát is a leading owner-breeder, and is he chairman of the Charvát Group, which is a major manufacturer of hydraulic systems and producer of industrial fluids in the central European region. Josef Váňa, living legend of the Velka Pardubicka, needs no introduction. He is a national hero, the one person in Czech horseracing whose name is known in every Czech household. He leads the largest racehorse training establishment in Czech racing.

 

Martin Bláha is the founder, owner and CEO of MAENTIVA Management, which brings together and governs entities in the the fields of freight, logistics, real estate market, media services and agriculture. MAENTIVA is a racehorse owner. Martin Bláha and his family are actively-involved sponsors and managers of the Galopp Reporter horseracing website and Galopp Reporter printed magazine. They also manage Galopp.tv, which provides on-line coverage of selected races and race meetings in the Czech Republic.

 

Ivan Janatka is the manager and the heart-and-soul of Karlovy Vary racecourse. He also makes time to advise the management of Most racecourse.

 

Oliva Horová is a trainer based at Velká Chuchle with only a small number of horses in her yard. She represents the Czech Steeplechase Association.
