Faltejsek returns to France

Soon after his winning ride in the Velka Pardubicka, Jan Faltejsek left for France, from where he subsequently set out for Cheltenham. After the ride there on Orphee des Blins, he returned to France, and he resumed spending the winter months at the training centre of Guillaume Macaire, the king of French trainers over fences. Until now he has ridden three winners for Macaire, but Faltejsek himself does not expect many more in the coming weeks.

“I had a fall at Fontainebleu, and I was out for a few days recovering from it. It was not pleasant, but I’m getting better and will be getting back to some work riding,” Faltejsek tells us from France. However, despite his improved physical state, he is not expecting to improve his current score of three winners in France by much in the near future. “If I understand properly, the season in France now moves to Cagnes-sur-Mer and Pau, where Mr Macaire doesn’t send many horses. I don’t expect to get a lot of opportunities until the normal season recommences,” Jan Faltejsek says. He also does not see much likelihood of rides in Italy in the coming weeks.
