The Jockey Club of the Czech Republic has set up a charitable foundation

The following is a translation of an announcement that appeared on the web pages of the Jockey Club of the Czech Republic on August 17th, 2020

At a meeting of the Council of the Jockey Club in January of this year, before the outbreak of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, Josef Bečvář, President of the Jockey Club of the Czech Republic initiated the setting up of a Foundation Fund in support of horseracing and racehorses, from which support can be provided for retired racehorses, injured horses and riders, etc. The pandemic, which has fundamentally affected people’s lives not only in the Czech Republic, has slowed down the process of establishing this fund, but we are now in a position to announce that the Foundation Fund of the Jockey Club of the Czech Republic has been set up and is ready to function.

The purpose of the Fund is to support horseracing and the sport’s present, past and potential future participants, especially children and young people who are interested in horseracing and in riding in races, people with special needs, ill and handicapped people, and people in difficult circumstances. The Foundation Fund will support projects contributing to the development and to the provision of better conditions for horseracing and for Thoroughbred breeding in the Czech Republic. The Foundation Fund will not make any contributions for business or political purposes.

The organs of the Foundation Fund are the Management Board and the Auditor. The members of the Management Board are Josef Bečvář, Dr. Karin Luftmanová and Martin Liška. The auditor is Dr. Jana Fialová.

Decisions on providing contributions from the Fund’s resources will be made by the Management Board. For sums of money in excess of CZK 20 000 (EUR 800) the agreement of the Council of the Jockey Club of the Czech Republic must be obtained.

Contributions to the Foundation Fund of the Jockey Club of the Czech Republic can be remitted to account number 123-2242620287/0100 at Komer
ční banka.

Information about how to apply for a contribution from the Fund will be published on the web pages of the Jockey Club of the Czech Republic.

In the name of the Jockey Club of the Czech Republic, we express our thanks for your contribution.
