Panagiotis Dimitsanis,  the undisputed top jockey in Greece for more than twenty years, will be making his third visit to Prague for the European Jockeys' Cup meeting. He has four rides, in the races at 14:20, 15:05, 15:40 and 16:15.

At 14:20 he will ride Derniera, 6 year-old mare, trained by Ivan Kub, over a distance of 1.800 m. This horse has won two of her 22 races, but her two performances in 2021 have been very poor.

At 15:05 he will ride Westerwald, an 8 year-old gelding, over a distance of 1.800 m. The horse is trained by Filip Neuberg, who was the Czech champion trainer about 20 years ago,This horse has won two of his 12 races. In 2018 he performed quite well in category E races in France. He came to the Czech Republic in 2020, ran in three hurdles races and was pulled up each time. In August and September 2021 he has run three times on the flat,  and he won a very small Category V handicap in his most recent race.

 At 15:40, he will ride Josephino, a colt, in the Listed category race for 2 year-olds. Josephino has run only once, finishing quite well beaten in a category III race, so he will need to make a big improvement to get a place in a race of this quality. He is trained by Ingrid Janackova Koplikova, daughter of top trainer Zdeno Koplik.

At 16:15 he will ride Gray Touch, a 7 year old grey horse, in the main race, the EJC Million, over a distance of 1.400 m. He has won 10 of his 32 races, gradually rising from low level category IV races. In his last race, August 15^th, 2021, he won a category I race at Bratislava, Slovakia, his best ever performance. The horse has run only at Bratislava recently and will be used to a much shorter racecourse and a much shorter finishing straight. Gray Touch will still be an outsider on Saturday, 25^th September. Trained in Slovakia by Jozef Chodur. Owned by MPL racing, a very big owner of good horses in Slovakia.

This is a poor set of horses for Dimitsanis to ride.  However, I understand that he had been offered some other presumabky better rides, which were  not accepted for him, due to a  misunderstanding. He is looking forward to doing his best in the four races, and to making his third visit to Prague, where the Greek community will give him a warm welcome.
