Prague Velká Chuchle racecourse is putting on eight days of racing in its autumn season, which begins with Czech St Leger day – Sunday, August 30th, first race at 2 p.m.

After winning a race at Pardubice on Saturday on Avec Charme, and then winning the main steeplechase at Netolice on Step Dancer on Sunday, Jan Kratochvíl took a bad fall, broke a thigh and was transported to hospital by helicopter.

For the eighth successive year, the Central European Thoroughbred Sale will be held at Pardubice racecourse two days before the Velka Pardubicka.

The sudden death was announced on August 7^th of Luděk Mikulecký, owner of the BORS Břeclav stable. Since 2005, the stable has won 74 races, including the Slovak derby, with Rocky of Gracie. The stable’s Universe of Gracie won the May qualification race for this year’s Velká Pardubická. Luděk Mikulecký was a former member of the Council of the Jockey Club of the Czech Republic.

Following the cancellation of the planned race meeting at Benešov on Sunday, there will only be one meeting this weekend.  

The first race at the mixed meeting at Lysá-nad-Labem on Saturday, August 8^th will be at 4.30 p.m. There are eight races on the card. 

Admission is free for everybody at Prague Velká Chuchle on Thursday evening, and transportation to the racecourse by train or by bus is covered by your city transport pass or daily pass.The first race is at 6.30 p.m., and the weather forecast is good. This a good - and inexpensive - opportunity to introduce your friends to horseracing in the Czech Republic.

Runners and riders have been announced for the evening meeting at Prague Velká Chuchle racecourse on Thursday, July 16^th. The first race is at 18.30, and there are five races on the card. The lack of high quality horses is more than compensated by the numbers of runners. Each of the races has at least 13 declared runners, and two have 16 runners, the maximum number of spaces in the starting boxes.

The coming weekend features two festival meetings, both in upland locations.

Entries closed on July 2^nd for the main races to be run at Wroclaw on the first weekend in September. The Wielka Wroclawska Steeplechase has attracted 27 entries, while the Wielka Partynicka Hurdle has 17 entries.

We regret to announce that Vojtěch Crha passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 27^th at the age of twenty-two. This talented young rider had been attending the secondary school for horsebreeding at Kladruby nad Labem as a part-time student, and had been working at the training centre of steeplechasing legend Josef Váňa.
