Wroclaw racecourse plans a big steeplechase in September

According to the Fitmin website, Wroclaw racecourse in Poland is planning to put on a Wielka Wroclawska on the first weekend in September 2013, when there will be a two-day meeting. The race will be over 5000 metres, for prizemoney of 175 000 zloty, which is about EUR 40 000. This makes the Wielka Wroclawska the second most valuable steeplechase in the region. There are to be 14 race days this year at Wroclaw, which is not at all far from the Czech border. However, it is an irritatingly long and tedious journey by public transport and also by car, due to the non-completion of the motorway, which still terminates short of Hradec Kralove, not far from the turn off for Pardubice.

Increased prizemoney has also been announced for racing at Warsaw Sluziewic racecourse.

Dostihovy svet would be pleased to publish news about racing in Poland. Please contact healey@vc.cvut.cz if you are willing to write.

(Originally, due to a mistranslation by me, I wrote that this meeting would be in October - I would still welcome much more news about racing, especially over jumps, in Poland, which can be presented here and will no doubt be translated for our Czech language pages).
