Trotting fiasco

I am far from understanding what has been going on in trotting in the Czech Republic.

In the last two seasons there have been very few race meetings. Last weekend, a meeting was announced at a brand-new racecourse at Bravantice, not far south of Ostrava. This racecourse is variously described as exclusively for trotting or predominantly for trotting, and it was originally announced that it would open in 2014. Some website sketches indicate that our type of horseracing might be held at Bravantice.

Less than a day or so before the opening meeting, it was announced that that the meeting was cancelled. No reason was given, but a photograph has appeared of a new trotting track with power lines crossing it and a big post supporting the power lines and located towards the inside of the racetrack.

later: It is claimed the electricity company was due to deal with the power lines the day before the opening meeting at the new track, but did not turn up. It is not a satisfactory explanation, of course!
