Pardubice racecourse announces a change to VP weekend

According to a press release isssued by Dostihovy spolek, which appears on the web site of the Jockey Club of the Czech Republic, the flat race meeting that is usually held on the Saturday, one day before the Velka Pardubicka, will be held this year on the Friday (October 10th). The bloodstock sale will be held on the Saturday (October 11th), and the Velka Pardubicka will be held, as announced, on October 12th.

Race meetings and race conditions for the first couple of months of the coming season have been announced on the Jockey Club web site http://www.dostihyjc.cz/dostihy.php. It is good to see that Prague Velka Chuchle racecourse plans to hold meetings every Sunday from the beginning of April until the last Sunday in June (Czech Derby day). This is the usual arrangement, Velka Chuchle had issued a warning that fewer meetings might be held this year if sponsors do not come forward.

The Czech steeplechasing will begin in earnest, as usual, on May 1st at Lysa-nad-Labem, and on May 8th the season at Pardubice racecourse will begin. There will be some jumps racing in the mixed meetings at Brno on April 19th and at Kolesa on April 21st.

Because of the very mild and dry winter, many trainers expect to have horses ready to run as soon as our season begins, and quite a few horses are likely to be taken to run abroad from now on.
