Central European Bloodstock Sale cancelled

The eighth Central  European Bloodstock Sale, scheduled for Friday October 9th at Pardubice racecourse, has been cancelled. Tomáš Janda, organiser of these sales since their beginning, has  decided to cancel  this year’s sale due to the low number of horses entered.

Tomáš Janda told the Fitmin & Turf website that it would no doubt be possible to find more horses for the sale at the last minute, but that it was better to cancel now rather than risk having too few horses and too little interest in the sale. He told Fitmin & Turf that this is not necessarily the end of auctions at Pardubice racecourse, and that he will try again next year to see if there is more interest.

The annual Central European Bloodstock Sales on the Friday before the Velka Pardubicka have been the only attempts in recent years to hold thoroughbred bloodstock auctions in the Czech Republic. In other countries, auctions are an important element in bloodstock sales, and it had been hoped that the auctions would boost sales, in particular, of Czech-bred yearlings.
