Two top jockeys excluded from the Martin Tour Cup

According to an announcement signed by Vojtěch Martin in the Jockey Club of the Czech Republic website, two of our top jockeys have been excluded from the MARTIN TOUR Cup flat jockeys championship. In separate incidents, Bauyrzhan Murzabayev and Jaromír Šafář weighed in after their races at Slušovice with considerably lower weights than they had weighed out with.

Vojtěch Martin explains that this exclusion is for the fact that they weighed in incorrectly, and is not due to the ongoing but unresolved accusation that their motivation for doing so was dishonest.

The rules for the Martin Tour Cup competition state that the winners’ prizemoney will be reduced by the amount of any fines imposed on participants by the racing authorities, and that participants can be expelled from the competition for unseemly behavior.

According to the points system used for the Martin Tour Cup, Murzabayev and Šafář are in first place and second place. According to their number of winners, without the Martin Tour weightings or rulings, Murzabayev has won 42 races and is sure to be champion jockey, and Šafář is in 3rd place, with 22 wins.
