DECLARATION OF DOSTIHOVY SPOLEK a.s. ON SUSPICIONS OF DOPING

Dostihový spolek a.s. [organizer of events at Pardubice racecourse] has been following the situation that has been developing due to suspicions that horses at a race meeting at Pardubice were doped.

The situation that has arisen is a matter of regret for Dostihový spolek a.s., which depends on the cleanness of horseracing sport and on fair play. Nevertheless, all questions of doping are handled by the Jockey Club of the Czech Republic as the supreme authority for Czech horseracing. Dostihový spolek a.s. as an organizer has neglected none of its responsibilities, and as a logical consequence cannot be responsible for the behaviour of the connections of racehorses. If the suspicions of doping are confirmed, and the situation that has arisen continues to escalate and damage the good name of Pardubice races, Dostihový spolek a.s. will take legal steps.

12 November 2015

Since the morning of 11 November 2015, rumours have been flying around that two horses, including Nikas, winner of this year’s Velka Pardubicka, failed drugs tests.

The Dostihový svět web pages have until now kept quiet about these rumours, as the topic is extremely sensitive and potentially very harmful for the reputation of all concerned.

It now seems that at least three and probably four of the eight horses tested at the two-day meeting tested positive. It seems that all of them were positive for caffeine. The trainers claim that they have not knowingly supplied this substance, and they suggest it was most likely either in a batch of feedstuff or supplements, or was picked up at Pardubice racecourse.
