Second race meeting of the season is cancelled

TMM, organizers of events at Prague Velká Chuchle racecourse, have issued the following statement.

Due to the fact that the Jockey Club of the Czech Republic has not yet signed an Agreement on Providing Horseracing with TMM, s. r. o. (or with most of the other organizers in the Czech Republic), Conseq Park Velká Chuchle hereby cancels the originally planned race meeting on April 10th, 2016. We apologize to all fans and to all participants in horse racing.

There is no sign of a solution to the stand-off between the Jockey Club of the Czech Republic and the organizers at all our major racecourses. A group headed by our biggest owners organized itself and got itself elected to all positions of power in Czech racing two years ago. This group continues to believe that it can force the organizers at the racecourses to obey its orders and put on what the racecourses claim would be loss-making race meetings. No mediation seems to be available. The president of the Jockey Club should perhaps be the peacemaker. However, he is the leader of the faction of leading owners, and seems to be ready to fight to the end. As are the organizers.

The majority of us just want the racing season to begin. However, it seems very likely that the battle will drag on disastrously. Two certain things are that no-one will win the war, and that the unrepresented majority of trainers, stable staff, jockeys and racing fans will lose most.
