Three race meetings this weekend: Velká Chuchle, Pardubice, Velká Chuchle
Czech horse racing will be in full swing this weekend. On Thursday evening, there will be the Kooperativa race day at Prague Velká Chuchle. This will consist of 4 more or less low-category handicap races on the flat. The first flat race is at 5.30 p.m. Before that, there will be a couple of trotting races. Entry is free-of-charge for this special race day.
On Saturday at Pardubice, the feature race will be the first of the four qualification races for the 2016 running of the Velká Pardubická, which will again be sponsored this year by Česká pojišt´ovna insurance company. There is a very strong field of 19 declared runners for the qualification race, including the first two past the post in VP 2015 – Nikas, later disqualified, and Ribelino, which was awarded first place. There are 8 races on the card at Pardubice, all over fences, and the first race is at 1 p.m.
On Sunday, racing returns to Prague Velká Chuchle. There are 8 races on the card, and the first race is at 2 pm. The feature race is the 67th running of the Great May Stakes, sponsored by VW Wachal, a.s. There are just 6 six declared runners for this Category I race over 1600 metres, but this will be quite a good-quality race.
