Czech "Grand National" will be run on August 29th

According to the Prague Velká Chuchle racecourse website, the second running of the Agrofert Velká Národní (Grand National) Steeplechase will be on Sunday, August 29th, for the Josef Váňa Cup. As far as I know, no race conditions have yet been published.

Last year, this race, run at the end of October, won by Fafintadenient, was run for prize money of CzK 1 million (€ 38 000), over specially designed temporary plain fences, which seemed to be a safe and satisfactory test of jumping. The Agrofert Velká Národní (Grand National) Steeplechase is a classical steeplechase, not a crosscountry chase.

It is the best-sponsored classical steeplechase run in the Czech Republic, and it is hoped that it will again attract runners from abroad. Last year, Swedish-trained Moss Cloud took third place.

The Czech St. Leger will also be run on the same day at Prague Velká Chuchle, and this will be one of several attractive race days in Prague after the summer break.
