Fixed odds betting at the Czech racecourses

Notes: these odds include your stake. 3:1 means that, if you stake 100 crowns, you will be paid out 300 crowns if your horse wins, including your stake.

At the racecourse, you can make the following bets:

Vítěz: to win.  

Místo: for a place. Note that a Místo bet can be made only in combination with a Vítěz bet. i.e., Místo can only form a part of an each way bet. Each way: Vítěz Místo.

Note that if you say Vítěz Místo 100 crowns, this will be interpreted as 50 crowns to win and 50 crowns for a place

1-2 This is a bet on your horse finishing first or second

1-3 This is a bet on your horse finishing first, second or third

1-4 This is a bet on your horse finishing first, second, third or fourth

1-5 This is a bet on your horse finishing first, second, third, fourth or fifth

Accumulator bets are also accepted.

Totalisator bets

There is also totalisator betting on malé pořadí (first and second, in correct order) and on velké pořadí (first, second and third, in correct order). You can make reverse and combination bets,which are both called kombinace in Czech.

On Velka Pardubicka day, there should be plenty of windows with English speaking clerks. Girls and young ladies seem to be more competent in this task. Boys and older people may give you a blank or open-mouthed look. The process can be slow. It is recommended to bet early, especially for the Velka.

When betting, give the number in the programme, i.e. 3 for Pardubice Sunday or 2 for Pardubice Saturday, 1 to 8 for the number of the race, plus two digits for the draw number of your horse. Rabbit Well, in the Velka Pardubicka, runs at Pardubice on Sunday (3) in the 8^th race (8) and carries number 10, so his number for betting purposes is 3810. Using this number, you can put your bet on at any time after 11 o’clock on Saturday.
