Open Day at Bošovice

Open Day at Václav Luka juniors stable at Bošovice, near Písek, about 90 km south of Prague Velká Chuchle racecourse, is becoming a tradition on the Saturday before the beginning of the Czech horseracing season. This year there were about 500 visitors.

In 2016, Václav Luka junior had success as a trainer on the flat in France on a level unprecedented by Czech-based trainers – only Arslangirej Šavujev had previously really made his mark in France as a trainer of flat horses. The focus of attention for most of Václav Luka’s best horses will this year again be France.

The Luka Racing stable at Bošovice is well-equipped and modern. Václav Luka junior did internships in Germany and in France, and spent extended periods in the UK with trainers Jonjo ONeill and Alan Berry. He is well on his  way towards realizing his ambition to run a modern stable that can rival the achievements of the top trainers in the most advanced flat racing countries.

The Luka Racing website is informative in English language (there is evidence of google translation, but it is easily comprehensible). Vaclav Luka and his wife, Martina, speak English well, and the stable is well set up for foreign-owned horses. The Luka racing club has at least one horse owned by a consortium including non-Czech members.
