Wroblewski trains 3 winners on opening day

The Czech horseracing season got under way on Sunday, April 2nd at PragueVelká Chuchle. It was a lovely, sunny spring afternoon, and a very good crowd turned out.

The feature race, the 90th running of the Gomba Handicap, 1200 metres, Category I, was won by Master of Gold, owned by TVD, a.s., trained by Greg Wroblewski and ridden by Polish jockey, Szczepan Mazur. Greg Wroblewski also trained the winner of the opening race of the season, Nagano Gold, and the winner of a race over 1600 metres for unraced 3-y-os. In this race, Palazzo Corsini, ridden bySzczepan Mazur, won very easily by 6 lengths. Palazzo Corsini is one of the rapidly expanding number of horses by Galileo running here. His Australian-bred dam, Melito, is by Redoute’s Choice (AUS).

 

Next Sunday there will be a meeting at PragueVelká Chuchle. The first race is at 2 p.m., and the main event is the Rudolf Deyl Memorial Stakes, for 3-y-o fillies, a major trial race for the Czech One Thousand Guineas.
