Josef Váňa and Galileo feature at Lysá on Easter Monday

After his extraordinary series of winners over jumps in Italy in the first three months of the year, trainer Josef Váňa snr is continuing to sweep up win after win. Le Moulleau won a small race for him at Treviso on April 1st. A day later, Staffetino won at Milano. On April 4th, Fafintadenient won the EUR 65 000 Prix du Mont Doré over hurdles at Compiègne, in France.

On April 9th, Father Frost won the 59th running of the Erste Factoring April Grand Prix, Cat I, at Prague Velká Chuchle, with Bauzryhan Muryabazev on board. This was Váňa’s first winner on the flat in 2017. In the next few days, Váňa has horses entered at Milano and Strasbourg.

On Easter Monday, Váňa has five horses sired by Galileo running at Lysá-nad-Labem. Lysá offers a good day's racing, with the first race at 1 pm. The main event is the Easter Steeplechase, Cat. I, sponsored by Statek Blata Český raj. There are also two Category II races on the flat, over 1700 m and 2200 m.

In the Easter Steeplechase, Váňa and Galileo will be represented by Sundara, owned by the sponsor of the race. Over 1700 metres, Tamarind Cove, third in the 2015 Czech Derby, will be their representative, and over 2200 m, Timekeeper, which won last year’s Slovak Derby at Bratislava, will be a hot favourite.
