The big races are the Wielka Wroclawska, crosscountry steeplechase, race 5, and the Wielka Partynicka, hurdles, race 3. Delight My Fire is the best of the Czech-trained entries, while Izynka and Pareto are also decent chasers. Two Polish-trained horses, Inferna and Registana’s son, Reki, look like the strongest challengers for Delight My Fire.

Many Czech jockeys will ride at Pardubice on Saturday, where the feature race is the fourth Velka Pardubicka qualification race, and will then drive 200 kilometres to Wroclaw for the races on Sunday.

Delight My Fire will be ridden by Swedish jockey, Niklas Lovén. Lovén and Deli will then go on to run in the Velka Pardubicka, on Sunday, October 8th. Delight My Fire has been following a highly unorthodox route to the Velka Pardubicka, where she won the Labe Stakes at the 2016 Velka Pardubicka meeting. She won the Velká Slušovická at Slušovice in great style at the end of October. She then ran at Cheltenham in December, putting up a good performance. She appeared still to be in contention when she fell about 5 from home. Then she finished a good third in a major steeplechase at Milano in mid April, and second to Reki in the Crystal Cup race at Wroclaw in June. In mid August, she finished in a close fifth place behind very good horses in a race at Merano won by Al Bustan from Mazhilis and Broughton. The owner and trainer are not only enjoying the rare pleasure of being conected with an international-class steeplechaser, but have also collected some good prize money. Most of her rivals in the Velka Pardubicka will have run exclusively at Pardubice this year, and will have had about two outings in the 12 months.
