At the end of March, two swans landed on the larger of the two ponds at Slušovice racecourse. Chairman of the board of Slušovice racecourse, Zdeněk Karlach, announced that they would be welcome to stay, especially if the twosome turned out to be a couple with honorable intentions. However, after a week or so, the swans moved on.

They were not heard to sing a swansong before they headed on. Indeed, Slušovice has announced five meetings for 2018, the biggest number of meetings there in recent years. The meetings at Slušovice will be on Sunday, May 27th;  Sunday July 8th; Sunday, August 12th; Saturday, September 15th; and on Sunday, November 4th, when the Velká Slušovická Steeplechase (crosscountry) will be the main race on the final day announced for the 2018 season in the Czech Republic.
