The Velka Pardubicka will take place behind closed doors

In connection with the coronavirus situation in the Czech Republic, stricter measures will come into force in the Czech Republic on October 5th that affect the organization of the Velka Pardubicka raceday on October 11th. The new regulations seemed to state that not more than 130 persons can meet for an outdoor event. It would not be possible to organize a televised Velka Pardubicka event on the basis of 130 persons being allowed onto the racecourse area. However, it seems that the authorities have agreed that the racecourse can be physically divided into a number of separated domains, each of which can have 130 persons.

Dostihový spolek, organizers of events at Pardubice racecourse, have announced that the event will take place, behind closed doors.

In addition, Czech Television plans to show the entire raceday live on the ČT sport channel. Velka Pardubicka day on ČT sport has a long tradition as a major national event and a great event for the television channel. Very many Czechs who otherwise take no interest in horseracing will be watching.

I will translate and post a Dostihový spolek press release explaining the situation.
