I am a bit late with the July 2104 newsletter. I blame a combination of being a bit busy, and too many late nights watching the World Cup. Watching top level footballers these days is watching rich guys getting richer. It is like watching bankers ripping off their clients.
Jumps racing at Partynice racecourse, in the southern suburbs of Wroclaw has taken off again in the last two years. Several Czech-based trainers, including Čestmir Olehla, Josef Váňa and Polish-born Greg Wroblewski, regularly send horses to run there.
May 2014 began warm and turned rainy, but there were no late frosts here this year.
2012 and 2013 Velka Pardubicka winner Orphee des Blins once again attracted all the attention to herself, on May 24th, in the Category II Winners of the Velka Pardubicka Stakes, by leading all the way round, gaining half a length at each obstable, going away in the finishing straight, and winning with great ease.
The first of the four qualification races at Pardubice racecourse for the 124th running of the Velka Pardubicka will be run on Saturday, May 24th. The 16 declared runners include three of the six finishers in the 2013 Velka: Nikas (2nd), Klaus (3rd ) and Peintre Abstrait (5th).
