Tannhaeuser, owned by Staj Englicovi, trained by Tomáš Váňa and ridden by Jan Verner, won the Profireal Group June Grand Prix, over 2200 metres, on June 1st. This is the main trial for the Czech Derby,which will be run at Prague Velka Chuchle on Sunday, June 22nd. French-bred Tannhaeuser, by Zafeen, out of a Cadeaux Genereux mare, won comfortably by two lengths after being near the head of the field all the way round. Jambul finished 2nd, and Cheeky Chappie 3rd. Tannhaeuser is now second favourite for the Czech Derby. Honzik Chipera, winner of the Dr Frankenberger Memorial at Most on May 17th, is still installed as favourite for the race.
