The race conditions for the second half of the Czech horseracing season, which is the main part of the season as far as 2-y-os are concerned, will be finalized at the meeting of the Council of the Jockey Club on May 15^th. Just a few days in advance, I want to point out some of the main races, and the prize money that will be on offer. We need to put greater emphasis on 2-y-os. Some of them are racehorses in their own right, and racing for juveniles is not just in preparation for, or waiting for, their three-year-old season.

For this reason, through my membership of the Owners’ Fund, I have committed my funding not only to Owners’ Prizes, but also to races for 2-y-os.

The race for 2-y-os at Most on Oaks day will be at Category II, but with prize money as for a Category I race, and the same is true for the Masis Stakes at Karlovy Vary. Both of these races will be run for prize money of CzK 135 000,- Kč.

The highlights of the season for 2-y-os after this will be the Mercedes Benz Winter Queen Stakes and the Charvát Winter Favourite Stakes. Both of these will be Listed races, with prize money of CzK 550 000,-.

It is in our interest to put together a solid programme of races for 2-y-os that will be repeated year-by-year, with the same conditions and prize money. The aim is to encourage owners to buy young horses and to continue the trend toward greater numbers of 2-y-os in training, which has been repeated this year.
