Upcountry weekend for Czech racing

The coming weekend features two festival meetings, both in upland locations.

On Saturday, the annual race meeting at Světlá Hora is a major regional event. The first race is at 1 pm, but the festivities will begin well before that. The main race is only a Category III event this year. Rabbit Well should win, provided this is one of those days when he consents to take part. The other 6 runners are all good chasers, trained in northern Moravia that would be strongly fancied for most Category III races. Světlá Hora is a major training centre, up in the hills near Bruntál, and the racecourse and the jumps are well cared for. Čestmír Olehla leads the team that prepares for this highly-recommended racing day. One of the features of the day will be a personal appearance by Registana, whose son Reki (by Look Honey) will make his racecourse début in the 3-y-o hurdles race.

On Sunday, the meeting at Mimoň, about 100 km north of Prague, will also be a celebration. This will be the first meeting there since 2012. The local trainers, led by Filip Neuberg, I understand, together with the owners of the Mimoň stud  and racecourse area, and the local community, have worked hard to prepare for this racing day (and for another one on Sunday, July 26th). The first race is at 2 p.m. This will  be an opportunity for some moderate horses to win a race.
