Josef Váňa is said to have decided that Rabbit Hawk Wing is not ready for the Velka Pardubicka, and so the living legend will presumably not have a ride in the 2016 Velka Pardubicka. Rabbit Hawk Wing has been entered for the Labe Stakes on October 9th, in which he will presumably be ridden by one of the stable jockeys, Jan Kratochvíl or Josef Váňa, junior.

Runners and riders for October 9th will be announced on Friday, October 30th. Entries for the race day at Pardubice on October 8th can be found on http://www.dostihyjc.cz/prihlasky.php?id_den=5461. Runners and riders for the meeting on Saturday will be announced on Tuesday, October 4th.

Josef Váňa hopes that he will ride Rabbit Hawk Wing in the Velka in 2017, when he will be a few days short of his 65th birthday. He has not said whether he will be taking his riding gear to the course this year on October 9th. There will be three Váňa-trained runners in the race, which will be the eighth race on the card. In the circumstances, it would be a good idea have a stand-in jockey ready to jump into the saddle, and who better than the living legend!
