The Most Popular Czech Horse Goes to Stud

The best Czech sprinter of the past years, Mikesh (Majestic Missile), has ended his racing career. The nine-year-old won eight of his 41 races and has earned EUR 65,000. Besides winning easily all major races in his home country over six furlongs, he scored four black-type places in Germany and Italy. He was the first Czech-trained horse to race in the Gr.2 Goldene Peitsche at Baden Baden, but his most favourite track was the straight course at Hoppegarten, Berlin, where he placed four years in a row in a listed race.

More than 40 members of the Czech Steeplechase Association took part in the General Meeting at Pardubice racecourse. After Jaroslav Jelínek, general secretary of the Association, had made an extensive evaluation of the previous season, there was a vote for members of the bodies for the General Meeting, followed by a vote for the new committee of the Association.

Trainer Václav Luka speaks about a successful season in France, and other things

Thirteen does not always have to be an unlucky number. Václav Luka’s thirteenth season as a trainer has been very successful. Not just at home in the Czech Republic, where it is sufficient to mention his classic winner, Nagano Gold, but also abroad. His last runners in France in December brought the lifetime winnings of his horses up to a total of 60 million crowns [EUR 2.2 million].
