Na predposlednom mítingu slovenskej sezóny sa rozhodlo o šampiónovi rovinových džokejov, keď Zdenko Šmida navýšil svoje vedenie o dva triumfy. Najprv sa presadil v Hendikepe Suprbleska IV.kategórie so Sadbou z českej stajne Euroframe-Váňová od trénera Radima Bodláka a potom sa mu darilo aj v jednom z hlavných dostihov II. kategórie Memoriáli RNDr. Juraja Gressnera na 2000 metrov o 2500 eur. Tu viedol zverenca Františka Holčáka Autora zo stajne Meridian. Medzi kvartetom účastníkov zvolil taktiku útoku z poslednej pozície a tá mu vyšla o 3 dĺžky.

Predposledný dostihový míting slovenskej sezóny má v programe 7 položiek, z toho najvyššie sú kategorizované dve roviny II. kategórie zhodne o 2500 eur. Dvojročné kone zo sa stretnú v Memoriáli Adolfa a Richarda Weissovcov na 1600 metrov. S najnižšími kurzami zrejme nastúpia dve senické odchovankyne z lotu Zuzany Kubovičovej Brillien a Borsa Scharm. Prvá menovaná už stihla ukoristiť tretiu priečku v Cene zimnej kráľovnej. Obe reprezentujú svojho chovateľa PD Senica. Okrem nich o časť z dotácie zabojuje sedmička ďalších koní zo slovenských stajní.

Czech Television’s coverage of Velka Pardubicka day began this year at 11.10 a.m., twenty minutes before the first race, and continued without commercials until 5.45 p.m. Without advertisements, and with very limited attention to the betting interest, we were treated to a good afternoon’s entertainment. Staying at home and watching the afternoon’s events on TV, rather than contending with the crowds at the racecourse, was certainly an attractive option.

Počas pardubického víkendu sa na Slovensku dostihy nekonali, takže niektoré realizačné tímy vyrazili do zahraničia. Okrem samotných Pardubíc boli cieľom slovenských koní Ebreichsdorf a Budapešť. Vo vrchole rakúskeho mítingu Int. Austria-Preis na 1300 metrov o 6400 eur sa predstavili dvaja zverenci Jozefa Chodúra šesťročný Double Piccolo z M&S Racing Team SK a o dva roky mladší Dodybud z HONOR Racing. Obom sa podarilo presadiť proti štvorici súperov.

It seems that 6-y-o Broker, owned by Pegas and trained by Greg Wroblewski, has had a minor setback and will not run in the Velka Pardubicka. He was at about 11 to 1 in the betting, and on the basis of his good second place in the August qualification race he would have had a good chance of being placed on Sunday. Fortunately, the connections have another horse in the race, Orphee des Blins, and the Pegas colours will be prominent in several of the other races at the Pardubice meeting.. 

Diane Hill is again going to judge the best turned-out horse in each of the races on Velka Pardubicka day, and is offering prizes for the people who prepared the winning horses. For the Velka Pardubicka, Diane will be accompanied in the judging by Chris Collins, who is returning to Pardubice for the 40th anniversary of his winning ride on Stephen's Society in the race in 1973.

Cez víkend sa slovenské realizačné tímy reprezentovali nielen v Bratislave. Zástupca stajne Lokotrans Slovakia Krosus z tréningu Jána Cagáňa sa predstavil už v treťom St. Leger, tentokrát v Budapešti. Ale ani do tretice nedosiahol na dotované umiestnenie, keď v teste na 2800 metrov s názvom Magyar St. Leger dobehol pod vedením Michala Macha na deviatom mieste z jedenástich koní. Presadil sa maďarský Akaba v sedle so Stanislavom Georgjevom.

Why has noone heard of Freddie Mitchell, who is to ride Cantridara in the Velka Pardubicka on Sunday?

The rumour that he was an Australian amateur ridden seems to be untrue. He is in fact a young British amateur rider who has not fulfilled the qualification conditions to ride in the race, but for some reason he has been granted a special dispensation.
