Olehla: Blommeröd was a learning experience for us

Trainer Čestmír Olehla chose Blommeröd, in southern Sweden, for the first outing of his horses in 2018. This was the first time that a Czech-trained horse has run there. The team from Světlá Hora did not come back empty-handed from this expedition to the north, as Poinsettia, ridden by Jakub Spáčil, won 12 000 Swedish kronor in prizemoney.

An apprentice rides 4 winners at Prague Velká Chuchle

Mild, sunny spring weather in Bohemia began precisely on Easter Monday, the day when our horseracing season began at Lysá, and it has continued until the present time. The meetings at Most and at Prague Velká Chuchle last weekend were held in pleasant conditions, though there was some bite in the wind on top of the huge expertly revitalized slag heap where Most racecourse is located.

Delight My Fire is well beaten at Fontainebleu

Delight My Fire, trained by Radim Bodlák and ridden by Niklas Lovén, was beaten into eighth place in her season-opening outing in the Crystal Cup race at Fontainebleu on April 4th. She finished 35 lengths behind the winner, Virtus d'Estruval, trained by Guillaume Macaire and ridden by James Reaveley. Virtus d'Estruval was to have run in the 2017 Velka Pardubicka, but was withdrawn from the race when engaged jockey Jan Faltejsek was unable to ride due to severe back pains, and no replacement jockey satisfactory to the trainer was available to replace him.

Delight My Fire is ready for the new season!

In the weeks before the beginning of our new season, much effort is put into visiting stables and discussing with trainers, and others, what the plans and prospects are for 2018, taking photographs and writing up articles. Most of the reports are of limited interest, and repeat the same messages of hope for the future, and gratitude to the owners and to the stable staff.
