Declarations to run in the 132nd Velka Pardubicka with Slavia Insurance, and also declarations of riders, close on Friday, September 30th.

Santa Klara ran at Merano last weekend. She finished lame and is not expected to be declared to run in the Velka.

Jan Faltejsek, who has ridden 5 winners of the Velka Pardubicka – Orphee des Blins x3, Charme Look and Tzigane du Berlais – is injured, and is not expected to be among the jockeys.

Jan Rája: At last I have time to set up my priorities

In the course of his long career, Jan Rája rode in more than three thousand races and won 523 times. He was three times the Czech champion jockey on the flat, rode the winner of nine classic races, including the Czech Derby in 2011 on Roches Cross. He also rode three times in the Velka Pardubicka, in which his best finish was in eighth place on Fahrenheit in 2003.

Seventeen entries for the Velka Pardubicka

Seventeen horses have been entered for the 132nd running of the Velka Pardubicka, to be run at Pardubice racecourse on Sunday, October 9th. They include all the horses that did well in this year’s four VP qualification races at Pardubice, with the exception of the first and second in the May qualification race (Del Rey and Theophilos). The three other qualification races were won by Talent, Player and Imphal (see reports on each of the qualification races below).

Project to build an ice-hockey stadium beside Pardubice racecourse put on hold

According to an article under the title Billionaire Dědek retreats from his plan to construct a grandiose arena in Pardubice Miliardář Dědek couvá od plánu na výstavbu megalomanské arény v Pardubicích | E15.cz, which appeared in E15.cz on August 3rd, 2022, developer Petr Dědek and his DD Group seem to be drawing back from their plan to build a vast multi-purpose ice-hockey stadium, a four-star hotel, a conference  centre, a restaurant and a multi-storey car park right alongside the finishing straight at Pardubice racecourse.

No European Jockeys’ Cup meeting this year

The EJC has been a remarkable annual event since 2015. Tomáš Machovský and his team have mobilized support for this major event. Generous sponsors have stepped forward, especially Leram and Loko Trans. Leading trainer Václav Luka has persuaded top jockeys to participate, and owners of good horses to run them in EJC races. Martin Cáp, both as a writer and as a television presenter, has promoted plenty of interest in the  meeting. Many other volunteers have have contributed.
