Will the champion trainer have a 10-month suspension? An appeal will be made!

On its web pages, the Jockey Club of the Czech Republic published a report yesterday [December 14th] evening concerning Monday’s meeting of the Disciplinary Commission of the Jockey Club of the Czech Republic, which imposed a punishment of withdrawing the trainer’s licence from trainer Ludvík Haris for a period of ten months. According to the report published on the internet pages of the Jockey Club of the Czech Republic, the punishment has been imposed because of the presence of the banned substance ritalin in a sample taken on July 19th, 2017. The sample was taken at the training centre in Krabčice. Trainer Ludvík Haris has five days from publication in the Journal of Czech Horseracing to lodge an appeal, against the decision of the Disciplinary Commission. This is expected to be made next week.

Trainer Ludvík Haris has completed his first year at the Krabčice training centre, and in 2017 he was the champion trainer on the flat. His horses won 23 flat races in the Czech Republic. His title as champion should be unaffected by this decision, as the positive sample was found in a test carried out at the training centre, and none of this year’s results will be changed. 4-y-o Lagaro, winner of the Czech 2 000 Guineas in 2016, has taken a number of tests with negative results in the course of his career.

His owner, Rostislav Kopecký, from the DARHORSE centre, intends to appeal against the verdict of the Disciplinary Commission. The case would then be transferred to the Horseracing Court for a final verdict.
